There are a lot of file search engines (e.g. download.lycos.com) based on software developed in Norway. They offer powerful file search:
Case insensitive substring search - finds filenames containing pattern. Case insensitive - uppercase and lowercase letters are traeted as the same ones.
Case sensitive substring search - Case sensitive - big and small letters do not mean the same.
Case insensitive glob search - finds filenames using wildcards. You can use asterisk (*) and question mark (?) - just like in patterns used to find files on your computer. Case insensitive.
Case sensitive glob search - case sensitive.
Regular expression search - Searches for parts of a filename with a regular expression.
Exact search - case sensitive search for exact filename.

Navigate. Lets you browse an FTP server's filesystem without actually logging on to it. This feature lets you browse the contents of an FTP server without logging on to it (very useful for full ones). Set "Search type" to "Navigate" and search for "ftp.server.host/" or "ftp.server.host/directory".
Minimum results - AbleGet queries search engines until there are at least this number of results, or all engines are used.
Check if the files exists - AbleGets checks all search results - if they exist, file size, and if the server supports resuming. Remember, that it takes time.
